Still life oil painting – MEDITERRANEAN DAYDREAMING

Still life oil painting – MEDITERRANEAN DAYDREAMING 2021 Oil on cardboard 69 x 61 cm   for @ppablopicasso challenge. The challenge says to pick an artwork of Pablo Picasso and recreate the work in your own style. Picasso for me is first of all mediterranean. His ceramics in cycladic style made a big impression on me! I can not forgive myself for not visiting the exhibition  “Picasso and Antiquity” organized in 2019 by Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens, Greece. I chose one of his ceramics, a super cool owl (photograph of cycladic.gr) and painted my version of it for the #ppablopicasso_challenge. Ι really enjoyed this challenge by painting something different and differently. It was really fun! I think I love this owl even more now! A clay owl stuck on a postament in a nicely decorated, sunny mediterranean room, looking through the window to a bird which is living free in nature. What is your choice? Freedom or comfort? Or just daydreaming? “A true masterpiece does not tell everything.” Albert Camus
